  Culture of the 1950s

movies of the 1950s

Many movies of the 1950s began portraying more rebellious characters, as well as connecting the theme and setting to the new favorite music: rock and roll. Film directors of the 1950s also began targeting a new audience: teenagers. Teenagers were opposed to the movies of the older generations, and they wanted more exciting movies. Film directors began making movies centered around rebellious teenagers and rock n' roll, making the movies of the 1950s more exciting than before.
