WOMEN: Women's clothing styles during the 1950s dramatically changed because of the new styles and trends(like rock n' roll), as well as the ability to purchase new fabrics(a lot of new clothing designs and colors were inspired by Asian clothing) because of the great economy.
Some popular clothing items included: - tailored tweed dresses - fur trimmings (Persian lamb, ocelot and civet cat) - Short decollete dresses with cover-up jacket or bolero - ankle-length dinner dresses - overcoats made of shaggy material - wide brimmed, shallow crowned hats - small daytime hats adorned with jewels - brooches - inch-high Cuban heels -sack dresses(dresses that did not have a fitted waistline)- there was a lot of controversy about where the waistline should go, so there were many different designs regarding the waistline location -halter neck flaring dresses
MEN: Men's clothing did not change as much as women's clothing over the years, but during the 1950s bolder colors and patterns, as well as leather jackets, became popular.
